On Wednesday 12 March, JIIA held an open symposium focusing on the conflict prevention and solution in Africa, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as a co-organizer.

In this years meeting, with its main focus on how to consolidate peace in the post-conflict process, issues such as effective conflict prevention, constructing peace and the ways in which Japan could contribute were debated from the perspective of conflict solution and achieving sustainable development, among other various topics.

Speakers from abroad included former African ministers, distinguished UN personnel, as well as members of NGOs and scholars, while Japanese participants included experts from universities and NGOs operating in Africa.
