"Conflicts in Africa and a Culture of Peace and Coexistence" The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a symposium on "Conflicts in Africa and a Culture of Peace and Coexistence" for the purpose of seeking out ways of resolving the many issues arising from conflicts in Africa. This symposium was held in recognition of the need to develop long-term approaches toward the prevention and resolution of the numerous conflicts that plague Africa, as well as of the importance of working towards the creation of a "culture of peace and coexistence" by fostering a "culture of prevention" as the core element in comprehensive conflict prevention.
