The Middle East and Africa face numerous issues, that significantly affect Japan and the rest of the world. At the same time, these regions contribute to global prosperity as major sources of energy and materials, and they have strong potential for economic development. JIIA conducts in-depth analyses of the current circumstances and issues in and around these regions. The topics of recent research include Iran, the Middle East peace process, and the Arab awakening.
